Walmart to give BlackBerry buyers $100 gift cards

Walmart said on Wednesday that it will offer buyers of the BlackBerry smartphones it carries a $100 gift card to use in store for whatever they want. This promotion will only last one week, and will start at 8am on November 14th. The BlackBerry handsets will also need to have two-year contracts attached to them from either AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile or Verizon.

Nokia Sues Apple Over iPhone

Nokia has filed patent infringement litigation against Apple, charging that the iPhone infringes on several Nokia patents.

The litigation, which involves 10 patents, was filed Thursday in the Federal District Court in Delaware. The patents at issue, Nokia said, involve GSM, UMTS (3G WCDMA), and wireless LAN standards.

Sony Ericsson Rachael to be Xperia X10?

Sony Ericsson’s much awaited Android based handset, the Rachael has been earlier known as the X3. However, going by latest reports, the phone might be renamed to X10 by the time of its launch in early 2010.

Of course, the identities of these employees have been kept under wraps for obvious reasons. The phone will be officially announced by November. Samsung partners Tata Docomo for Android handset

Korean mobile handset maker Samsung today said it has partnered with Tata Teleservices’ GSM brand Tata DOCOMO for launching its first Google-powered Android handset ‘Galaxy’ in India.

Samsung, which plans to launch more Android handsets in India later this year, would make the phone available at Rs 28,990.

Having ruled the market for over a decade, the world’s largest handset manufacturer, Nokia, is shifting gear to reposition itself from being a device maker to a services and solutions provider in the wake of mounting competition from players like Apple and Research-in-Motion.

“Services is next big thing…we see people living their life 24×7 through applications on their mobile phones. Whether it is Twitter or Facebook, people live their life online,” Nokia India Managing Director D Shivakumar said when asked about the company’s future plans.
